Access Control and COpyright Protection for Images RACE Project M1005 |
More precisely, ACCOPI intends to:
Identify needs for ACCOPI in future digital broadcasting systems;
Develop a common functional model (CFM) coherent with the needs of the
European broadcasters and with the needs of the European service providers;
Evaluate thanks to the CFM existing ACCOPI systems (EUROCRYPT, DSS, ...)
Develop a common European kernel for ACCOPI, in liaison with the European
standardization bodies and with the other RACE projects involved in digital
image broadcasting, and defend it for standardization. This kernel is based
on the use of Trusted Third Parties (TTP's) and detachable Access Control
Units (ACU's);
Propose evolutions for the ACCOPI kernel and trace future work in this
domain;
Prepare and execute a series of interoperability tests in the field of
V.O..D. and Interactive TV series in support to the DAVIC specification
process;
Present the kernel in DAVIC, analyzing the usability of the TTP's;
Translate existing research results about watermarking into practical
implementations;
Extend results obtained in the frame of peer-to-peer multimedia communications to one-to-many communications patterns.
Evaluation of the ACCOPI needs through direct contacts, through
standardization bodies and through workshops to be held during the RACE
coordination meetings;
Development of an ACCOPI CFM and validation through functional analysis;
Comparison of existing techniques;
Development of new solutions for the European ACCOPI kernel;
Set-up and integration of a physical test-bed;
Practical implementation of existing watermarking techniques.
Develop an efficient ACCOPI kernel, that is,
- efficient for copyright protection, reliable key distribution, low cost,
- ready before the launching of the future digital image broadcasting systems.
Finds paths for the kernel evolution towards more efficient ACCOPI.
Review of needs and existing systems for ACCOPI;
CFM and requirements for ACCOPI;
ACCOPI European kernel;
Paths for the ACCOPI kernel evolution.
Proposal for ACCOPI standards within ETSI and EBU, and in the line of DAVIC;
ACCOPI solution for future European digital broadcasting systems.
